Applications
These types of filters are usually called for in two different scenarios. The first one is if someone is performing environmental testing. The second typical application is for sterilization by way of UV rays.
Manufacture
The way that these lenses are made also sets them apart from their related devices. Unlike other bandpass filters, these contain either a glass substrate or fused silica applied in a single layer. Over this layer is an oxide coating that provides a layer of protection to the surface layer.
