Kenya is on the fast track to development

After Kenya gained independence in 1963 it began to fast-track development through incentives to foreign manufacturers, public investment and spurring agricultural growth. Although there have been some serious hick-ups along the way, Kenya is now pursuing its growth goals and the place where it is most apparent is in Nairobi, the capital city of the country.

Kenya is not only growing using its own resources such as tea, it is growing because the country is providing a stable environment for foreign business who wishes to enter the market. As a result of this rapid growth, accommodation is having a hard time keeping up with demand but there are new single family homes, apartments, townhouses and serviced apartments in Kenya popping up like flowers.

Expats in particular are often confused when they arrive in Nairobi and the first order of priority is to locate accommodation that will suit their needs during their stay in the country. This is one of the reasons why serviced apartments in Kenya are becoming more popular, not only with expats but with Kenyans who are being offered high paying employment in the city.

Once a newly arrived couple or family set foot in the city they often are faced with hotel accommodation. This does not suit a lot of people who need to begin acclimating as quickly as possible and part of their acclimation process is to feel as if they are living in a home, no matter how limited the features. Many serviced apartments are now available which can almost mimic the convenience of a home, many have multiple bedrooms, a comfortable living area and a well furnished kitchen where meals can be cooked “just like home”.

As people settle in to a serviced apartment it gives them an opportunity to investigate their new surroundings, taking into account their own needs such as schooling and the location of their employer. For years the city center was the hub of business but as Kenya grows, business is moving to the suburbs and city outskirts.

The best serviced apartments in Kenya are actually located quite close to the city center. This location allows new residents to find and enjoy the night life of the city and be reasonably close to the embassies and the UN offices. Although the new arrivals may end up living in the suburbs, starting their Kenyan life close to the hub of Nairobi allows for rapid integration into this dynamic corner of Africa.
