Holter ECG Electrodes for Multiple Monitoring and Testing Situations

by | Jul 9, 2020 | Health

An ECG electrode is a pad with conductive capability that attaches to the skin and permits recording of electrical activity. It connects to an ECG machine for an electrocardiogram test to assess a heart’s behavior. These electrodes come in a wide range of sizes, backings, adhesive strengths and packaging methods, depending on the test’s clinical needs.

Electrode Types

Our disposable ECG monitoring electrodes come with different types of backing materials, depending on use. New designs have porous backing and will avoid irritating the skin, even over days. Exercise-oriented electrodes will stretch while permitting perspiration.

We cover a comprehensive range of manufacturers as well, including 3M, Welch Allyn, Ambu, Conmed, Vermed, Meditrace, Phillips and Vyaire.

Electrode Materials

Foam ECG monitoring electrodes have high adhesion for short-term applications. Cloth electrodes allow respiration and stretch. Wet and gel electrodes are faster at picking up a signal. Electrodes with tabs connect with alligator clips.

Holter Monitoring Electrodes

Sometimes a snapshot of a heart’s behavior doesn’t provide sufficient information. In this case, 24-hour Holter monitoring may be needed. Holter monitoring electrodes are versatile enough for multiple cardiac diagnostic and monitoring situations, such as stress, monitoring and telemetry and resting conditions.
