Storage in in Tacoma Makes Your Next Move Easy

by | Aug 6, 2014 | Moving and Relocating

The next time you need to move your household, try using storage in in Tacoma to make the whole experience a bit smoother. Packing everything in your home takes time and preparation. Having boxes stacked up all over the house can make things uncomfortable. Here are a few tips to get the packing done so that no one feels crowded.

Go through the things you have stored in the basement or attic first. If you know what is in the boxes, and that you will be keeping them, you can take them to a storage unit. If you never use the items, it is time to get rid of them. Now you have a bit more space to store boxes in the house without having them all over the living spaces. The next area should be the garage or any shed you have.

Once you have all the normally stored items put away in storage in in Tacoma, it is time to start on bedrooms and closets. Take the time to go through clothing. Put the clothes you will be keeping in large trash bags. If it doesn’t fit any more, or you know it is not going to be work again, donate it to the Good Will or Salvation Army. The same goes for toys, tools and anything else. Use this time to lighten the load for your move.

As moving day approaches, pack up more items, leaving only the things you absolutely need. It is a good idea to pack dishes, and use paper plates for a day or two before the move. Wrapping dishes takes time. You don’t want to be stuck trying to finish packing while loading the truck to go.

Take the moving truck to the storage unit first. Load in the boxes. Stack everything as neatly as possible. You may have to go back for items that will not stack neatly. Take the truck to the house and load in all the furniture. Without having to maneuver around boxes, getting even the heavy pieces into the truck is much easier. After all the furniture has been loaded, fill in under the table, on top of the couch and all the open areas with bags of clothing and linens. If you have things that were odd shaped and did not want to stack, go back to the storage unit for them now.
