Spider veins and their eradication

by | Dec 11, 2013 | Health

Spider veins are nothing more than tiny blood veins that appear close to the skin surface. Although spider veins are all part of the venous system, they are not needed for the system to function properly. They pose no medical problems at all but many people undergo vein treatment in Cincinnati OH to eradicate them as they are considered to be quite unsightly. Removing them is quite simple and safe.

Spider veins and varicose veins are far from the same thing. Varicose veins are much larger and those who have them often suffer significant pain. Varicose vein treatment is also available but this surgery is not a simple matter such as it is with spider veins. Varicose veins, because they can pose a threat to one’s health, should be attended to by a surgeon; spider veins on the other hand can be handled by any skilled cosmetic professional.

There are a number of things that can bring on spider veins but two of the most common are shifting in the hormone balance and weight gain. Many women get spider veins when pregnant as during pregnancy there are dramatic shifts in the hormone balance as well as weight gain. Many women, who sit for long periods of time, perhaps tied to a desk job, also can get them. As time goes by, the condition will appear and worsen.

There is only one true spider vein but the condition can be observed in three different modes. All three forms all have the same underlying causes. One type is where the veins run close to parallel to each other, another form is when the veins appear as if they were branches on a tree and the last form, the true form is where the veins have a darker node in the center and spider web like veins radiating out from it.

The most common treatment for spider veins is Sclerotherapy, which is simple and painless. The entire treatment often can be done in less than one hour per session. An agent is injected into the veins; every square inch takes one injection, this results in about 50 injections per treatment. The needle that is used is tiny so there is very little if any pain associated with a session. Click here for more information.
